FAQs: Jocelyn Kerr
Who is Jocelyn Kerr? She’s an author, SEO/GEO writer, and professional copywriter and editor since 2009. Prior to working in publishing and commercial writing, she was a newspaper editor, magazine editor-in-chief, documentary researcher, and even had a brief stint as a librarian. Her memoir, Displaced, won the 2026 Eric Hoffer Award for Memoir and a First Horizon Award. It was short listed for the EHA Grand Prize.
What industries does Jocelyn write for? Her beats include the energy transition, alternative fuels, O&G, infrastructure protection (corrosion control), farming & food production, hospitality, and she spent five years as a conference and travel writer. In recent years, her focus has been ghostwriting book-length projects, memoir, and she’s moving into trade paperback fiction with a midlife novel series in Q4 2026.
Who are Jocelyn’s clients? She has longstanding relationships with nonprofit associations, energy companies, travel and food magazines, marketing agencies, and private clients who hire her as a personal editor.
What’s her stance on AI? Large language models (LLMs) are ubiquitous, and Jocelyn was an early adopter. She started creating custom GPTs back in ChatGPT 4.o. She has since moved to Anthropic’s Claude, and she has an advanced prompting certification from Vanderbilt University. Having said that, she does not believe LLMs can replace human editorial judgement. LLM hallucinations still run rampant. She helps her clients understand how to use LLMs ethically and how to edit content so it remains human-centric and grounded in traditional storytelling.
Why is this written in the third person? It’s weird. I know. Because algorithms. I want to rank for my own name. Welcome to the digital world. ;)
How can we work together? I take on a couple of editing and ghostwriting projects per month, so feel free to email me and tell me about your project and what kind of assistance you’re looking for. I’ll send you a no-obligation quote and scope of work. If you decide to sign on, we’ll chat and align schedules. I look forward to hearing about your project!
If you need ongoing LLM (AI) editing support, that’s a retainer option. I help people make their generated drafts sound more human and on-brand. Contact me to discuss.
